Before I start, this place is crazy, hands down absolutely mental in terms of Fun factor, are you guys ready for this one?

Seating Area Guanabara
The seating area around the main stage/Dance floor. With Projection screens scattered around the whole venue

Last night, (mid working week, naughty?) I took a friend to Guanabara in Holborn/Covent Garden area. After scooping up tickets off Eventbrite for Circus Cabaret – Circo Do Guanabara, an extravaganza of world class Latin & UK entertainment, the event had been penciled in my diary for over a month.

We arrived relatively early, so there wasn’t a crowd, which was quite nice, because we had a chance to talk and enjoy our meal without the fuss of too many people around.image

Brioche De Frango Malagueta

The menu is incredibly reasonable considering what we were about to see. I got the Brioche De Frango Malagueta, a sizable succulent grilled chicken breast fillet in a warm Brioche bun, with chilli mayonnaise and a double whammy portion of chips. The food was delicious and the staff were great, our food was served in time for the belly grumbles and the drinks menu was equally as delicious, with happy hour between 5-8pm.

The night started with a spectacular drumming performance. The room was filled with people clapping, cheering and bopping their heads as they finished off their meals.image

The host for the night was a hilarious gay guy, dressed to impress, glittered up and covered in feathers. I wont give too much away but his hosting had the crowd laughing and falling off their chairs.

As the night unfolded we watched several different but equally astonishing performances.

Colourful carnival samba dancers, a sexy solo performance by a Burlesque beauty, a romantic glistening salsa/rumba performance, a Rio style street dance by 3 muscular men, a cabaret sing along by our host and a breath taking Hula Hooper performance to end the nights acts. The show started at 9pm, with a short interval in between, we were dazzled with talent for 60 minutes.

Because it was a “school night” “work night” (sounds more age appropriate), we left after the show was closed. But for those that wanted to party the night on, the dance floor was opened up to the room and a lady in red, Rosa Nazira began her Salsa session.

Food, drinks, free performances, classic carnival beats. A night jam packed with the wow factor! Will I be returning…most definitely!
